The Process

An artist drawing a design in pencil
01

Consultation

Thirty minutes with your artist, free. Bring the idea and your references; we talk size, placement and the sittings it will take.

Request One
A design being lined by hand
02

Design

Your artist draws the piece to fit your body, then the stencil. You see it on the skin before a single line goes in.

Estimate It

03

Sittings

A deposit of 20% of your first sitting, $100 to $300 holds your first sitting; large pieces go in over several, 3 weeks apart.

How It Heals

The same tattoo through its first month. Scroll: the redness goes, the skin peels, clouds over and settles sharp and black.

A moth tattoo on a forearm, freshly inked Days 1 - 3 Fresh

  1. Days 1 - 3

    Fresh

Red, warm and a little swollen; plasma and ink weep for a day or two.

  2. Days 4 - 6

    Settling

Tight and shiny; the redness fades from the edges in.

  3. Days 7 - 14

    Peeling

Flakes and itching, like a mild sunburn peeling.

  4. Days 15 - 29

    Milky

Cloudy and dull under a new layer of skin, the silver-skin stage.

  5. Day 30

    Healed

    Settled, sharp and black.
