Installing Quickmunch
Upload the theme, let it install its plugins, import the demo if you want it, and set permalinks. Fifteen minutes on a normal host.
Before you start
You need three things: a working WordPress site on hosting that meets the system requirements, an upload limit of at least 64 MB, and the files from your download, unzipped.
No WordPress site yet? Local machine setup and Server setup each end with one.
Unzip the download on your own computer first. Inside it, Theme Files/quickmunch.zip
is the theme — that is the file WordPress wants, not the download itself.
If you plan to import the demo, start from a fresh WordPress site. Importing into a site that already has pages and menus mixes the two, and they are tedious to separate afterwards.
Install
- Upload and activate the theme. Appearance → Themes → Add New Theme →
Upload Theme, choose
quickmunch.zip, press Install Now, then Activate. With no upload access, extract the zip intowp-content/themes/by FTP and activate it under Appearance → Themes. - Install the child theme — now, if at all. If you will change any code, upload
Theme Files/Child Theme/quickmunch-child.zipthe same way and activate it instead; the parent stays installed. Do it before the demo import: WordPress keeps menu locations and Customizer settings per theme, so switching to the child later leaves them behind on the parent. - Install the plugins. Activating the theme shows a notice listing the plugins
it needs. Press Begin installing plugins — or open Appearance → Install Plugins
— tick the Required ones, choose Install from Bulk actions, and then
Activate the same way.
The same three bundled plugins are in the download'sPlugin Type Where it comes from Sigma Core Required Bundled with the theme — page-builder elements, post types, widgets and the demo importer. Sigma Restaurant Required Bundled with the theme — the platform itself: restaurants, dashboards, POS, billing. WPBakery Page Builder Required Bundled with the theme. Elementor Website Builder Required WordPress plugin directory — the second page builder; the Elementor demo is built with it. WooCommerce Required WordPress plugin directory — carts, checkout, orders and payments. Redux Framework Required WordPress plugin directory — the Theme Options panel. Contact Form 7 Required WordPress plugin directory — the contact forms. MC4WP: Mailchimp for WordPress Required WordPress plugin directory — the newsletter sign-up. One Click Demo Import Required WordPress plugin directory — used in the next step. Stripe, PayPal Payments Recommended The two gateways offered on the screen; install only the ones you will take payments with. Square, Mollie, Razorpay, Paystack, Flutterwave, Mercado Pago and Payfast are installed from the WordPress plugin directory when you need them — see Payments & gateways. Instagram Feed, Autoptimize Recommended Optional extras: a social feed, and asset optimisation. Pluginsfolder, for installing by hand under Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin. - Import the demo (optional). Appearance → Import Demo Data
offers two demos with the same design:
Press Import and leave the tab open until it reports it has finished — a few minutes on most hosts. It brings the pages, restaurants, dishes, blog, menus, widgets, Theme Options and Customizer settings, then links every dish to its restaurant.Demo Pages are built with Before importing WPBakery Demo WPBakery Page Builder Nothing more — it is already installed. Elementor Demo Elementor Nothing more — Elementor is installed with the required plugins. Use the importer, not the files. The download'sDemo-Contentfolder holds the same data, but importing it by hand skips the steps that finish the demo — linking every dish to its restaurant among them. - Set permalinks. Settings → Permalinks, choose Post name, and press Save Changes. The dashboards live at their own addresses and do not exist until this is done.
After it finishes
- You run it from your own account. The WordPress administrator you already have is the platform's operator. The Quickmunch item in the wp-admin
menu opens the platform dashboard at
/admin-dashboard/, and Restaurant Dashboard opens the restaurants' side at/restaurant-dashboard/. - Check the business model. Every install starts as a marketplace. Change it whenever you like under Quickmunch → Monetisation → Business model, where each option is shown with the money flow it produces — see Choosing a business model.
- Glance at scheduled tasks. WordPress runs them itself, when somebody visits. On a quiet site a server cron entry keeps them on time — see Scheduled tasks.
Then continue with Your first hour.
When it doesn't work
"The uploaded file exceeds the upload_max_filesize directive in php.ini"
The upload limit is below the theme's size. Raise upload_max_filesize and
post_max_size to 64M — see System requirements —
or install by FTP instead.
"The link you followed has expired"
The same limit, reported differently: post_max_size is smaller than the file. Raise
both values together.
"The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet."
The file you uploaded is the whole download rather than the theme inside it. Unzip the download
and upload Theme Files/quickmunch.zip.
A plugin will not install from the list
Either the server cannot reach the WordPress plugin directory, or wp-content is not
writable. Install that plugin under Plugins → Add New Plugin instead — for the three
bundled ones, upload their zips from the download's Plugins folder.
The demo import stops part-way
Usually max_execution_time or memory_limit. Raise them and press
Import again: items that already arrived are recognised and skipped.
A dashboard address shows "page not found"
Permalinks are still on Plain, or the rules were never saved. Open Settings → Permalinks, choose Post name and press Save Changes.
"There has been a critical error on this website"
Most often the PHP version is below 7.4 or memory ran out. Tools → Site Health shows both.
To see the exact error, add define( 'WP_DEBUG', true ); and
define( 'WP_DEBUG_LOG', true ); to wp-config.php, repeat what you did,
and read wp-content/debug.log.
