Mornings in the valley start early. The mist lifts off the river by seven, the rice terraces turn from grey to green, and the first swimmers are already in the pool while breakfast is laid out on the deck.
We built the resort around what was already here: the old banyan, the spring that feeds the pool and the paths the farmers still use. Every stay faces the forest, and nothing stands taller than the trees.
Where The Morning Begins
The best way to see the valley is on foot. Our guides lead a ridge walk at sunrise and a lantern walk after dinner, and the herb garden is open to anyone who wants to pick something for the kitchen.
“Nothing here is rushed, and that is the whole point.”
Donald H. Hilixer
Come in the green season for the waterfalls and the quiet, or in the dry months for long clear evenings. Either way, pack light: linen, sandals and a good book are all you will need.
What To Bring
- Light linen and a warm layer for the evenings.
- Sandals for the garden paths, shoes for the ridge walk.
- A book, a hat and nothing you would mind getting wet.

We did the sunrise walk on your advice. Worth every early alarm.
So glad you went! The light on the ridge is best in the dry months.
The lantern walk was our favourite evening of the whole stay.
