Questions & Answers
Sittings, editions, frames and the crate they travel in.
Portrait Sittings
Four: portrait sitting ($650), heirloom portrait ($1,450), two sitters ($980), still life commission ($1,200). Every one includes printed work.
Tuesday to Saturday, in north-window light only. The booking offers slots that end an hour before the day's sunset, so winter sittings are mornings and early afternoons.
30% of the sitting when you book, the rest after you have chosen your proofs.
About two weeks after the sitting you get a proofing gallery. Pick the frames you want printed; the prints included with your sitting are yours, each further pick is $120.
Editions & Prices
Each size is its own edition: 30 × 40 cm of 25, 50 × 70 cm of 15, 80 × 110 cm of 7, plus 2 artist's proofs. When a size is gone it is never printed again.
An edition's price steps up as it sells: the first 40% of the numbers at the release price, the next at 25% more, the last numbers at 60% more.
The next number in the edition register at the moment you put the print in your bag; we hold it for you while you check out.
Signed and numbered on the back by Clara, with a certificate that carries the same number.
Framing & Shipping
Yes: black oak, natural oak, walnut, gilt. Every frame is glazed with UV-filtering museum glass.
It keeps the glass off the print and gives it room to breathe on the wall; choose white or ivory museum board, cut with a 45-degree bevel.
Unframed prints travel rolled in a tube, framed prints in a wooden crate; both are insured. Orders over $3,000 ship free.
Use COLLECTOR10 at the bag for 10% off your first print.
Print Care
Pigment on cotton rag is rated for about 110 years on a wall lit at 450 lux, 12 hours a day; the display check on the print care page works it out for your room.
Out of direct sun, away from radiators and damp walls; a north-facing room is ideal.
A soft cloth, barely damp; never spray onto the frame.
