Rudra Abhishekam
The sacred bathing of the deity, chanted through the Rudram by two priests.
45 Minutes · 2 Priests
About This Seva
Rudra Abhishekam is the oldest seva the temple performs. The Shiva lingam is bathed in milk, honey, ghee, curd and sandal while two priests chant the Sri Rudram from the Yajur Veda, the hymn that asks the fierce form of Shiva to become gentle and protect the household.
It is booked for birthdays, for health, before a long journey and on the anniversary of a parent’s passing. Mondays and Pradosham evenings fill first.
