Questions & Answers
Everything people ask us before their first box or visit.
Visiting The Farm
The farm shop and the yard are open Tuesday to Sunday; the shop is closed on Mondays. Tours run at 10:00 am and 2:00 pm from Wednesday to Sunday.
Yes, places are limited to twenty a tour so everyone can see the dairy and the hives. Book on the Visit The Farm page and pay on the day.
The yard, the shop, the barn and the main farm track are level. The orchard path is grass; we lend an all-terrain chair, just ask when you book.
Dogs on a short lead are welcome in the yard and the shop, but not in the fields with the herd or near the hives.
The Harvest Box
Whatever is ripe that week: eight to sixteen seasonal vegetables, fruit and herbs, picked the morning of packing. The box page shows this month's crops.
Yes. Skip or pause from your account up to Monday noon for that week's delivery; there is no charge for a skipped box.
Collect it from the farm shop on Friday or Saturday, or choose home delivery: within 10 miles on Thursday, 30 miles on Wednesday, statewide by courier on Tuesday.
Every box takes extras: a dozen eggs, two litres of milk, a farmhouse cheese, a jar of honey or a sourdough loaf, added to each delivery.
Shop & Delivery
We ship honey, cheese and garden goods across the state; fresh produce and milk go by our own vans within 30 miles to keep them cold.
Orders over $60 ship free. Under that, standard shipping is $7 and express next-day shipping $15. Collection from the farm shop is always free.
Fresh food cannot be returned, but if anything arrives less than perfect, tell us within two days and we will replace it or refund you.
How We Farm
Yes. Every field, the orchard and the herd have been certified organic since 1996; nothing is sprayed and no artificial fertiliser is used.
No-dig beds, green manures, a four-year rotation and compost from our own herd: the soil's organic matter has doubled since we began measuring.
On the river pasture from April to November, and on our own hay in winter. The herd is grass-fed and never given growth hormones.
