Lantern House asked for a picture book of thirty animals, one to a spread, each with a small story of its own and one look holding the whole book together.

Noor drew the first animals in a week of thumbnails; Elena joined to give the bigger ones their weight. Every animal stands on a flat cream page with its own patch of ground, so a spread can be cut, moved or reprinted without a background to repaint.
